The 3 signs your website is scaring customers away

Before you spend a dollar on ads, check whether your own site is quietly pushing people away. All three signs can be checked for free, today, on your own.

  1. It takes too long to load

Every second it takes to appear is a customer getting tired of waiting and clicking over to the next result.

  2. It doesn't look right on a phone

Most visitors are on a phone; if they have to zoom in or scroll sideways, they give up before reaching your contact info.

  3. It doesn't say what to do next

No clear call or WhatsApp button means even an interested customer just leaves without messaging you.

Check all three yourself, for free

SignHow to check it
Slow to loadOpen it on your phone with mobile data and count how long it takes. For a real number, use pagespeed.web.dev.
Not mobile-friendlyOn your phone: can you read without zooming? Do you scroll sideways? Can you tap the buttons?
No clear next stepShow it to someone who doesn't know your business and ask «what would you do next?». Check if the call or WhatsApp button shows without scrolling.

If you already have a website, the fix is one message away.

Fix all three in one shot with Claude or ChatGPT

You don't need to rebuild your website - once you've spotted the three signs, ask the AI to fix exactly those three things.

Copy this

My website is slow to load, doesn't look right on a phone, and doesn't have a clear way to contact me. Fix these three things: 1. Speed: use lightweight images and remove any heavy videos that load before the content shows up. 2. Mobile: make the text readable without zooming, the buttons tappable with a finger, and nothing that forces sideways scrolling. 3. Contact: add a big, visible button to call or message on WhatsApp, with no scrolling needed. Don't change anything else about the design.

Paste it into the conversation where you already have your website, then check all three points on your own phone before calling it fixed.

If you don't have a website, build it in one shot

You don't need to know how to code or hire anyone. The whole process runs on three free accounts:

  1. A Claude account or a ChatGPT account - whichever one you already have, where you ask for the website.
  2. A free GitHub account - where the code lives.
  3. A free Vercel account - where the website gets published.

Real example

Restaurante La Fe's menu website (lafe-menu.vercel.app), a real Salvadoran restaurant, was built exactly this way: open Monday and Saturday 10 to 6, Tuesday through Friday 10 to 8, closed Sunday.

Step 1 - Write the master prompt

The more real context you give it, the fewer rounds of fixes you'll need later. The idea is to ask for the whole thing in one shot, not piece by piece.

Copy this

I want a website for [business name], a [type of business] in [city]. We sell: [list what you offer]. Hours: [your real hours, day by day]. Brand colors: [colors, or “pick something that matches my logo”]. Contact: [phone, WhatsApp, address]. I'll use real photos of the business, not generated ones. Keep it simple, make it look good on a phone, and give it a big button to call or message on WhatsApp.

Steps 2 to 4 - Ask, review, revise

  1. Ask for the first version, in one shot

It doesn't need to be perfect - it needs to exist so you can react to it.

  2. Review it in your own browser

Shrink the window to simulate a phone, and click every button and link.

  3. Ask for changes one at a time

Be specific: which section, the exact text, the exact color - not just “make it better.”

Steps 5 to 7 - Go live

StepWhat it gets you
Publish on VercelA live address in minutes, like your-business.vercel.app.
Connect your domainyour-business.com looks more serious and is easier to remember.
Generate a QR codePuts your website on the table, the window or the business card.

Test the QR with your own phone before printing it.
